Charles Francis is President of the Mattachine Society of Washington, D.C., an LGBT history society with the motto 'Archive Activism'. Mattachine's archival history projects include recent groundbreaking research on the federal St. Elizabeths Hospital (for the Insane) and its experimental treatments on LGBT patients committed there over decades for a "cure" of their homosexuality. Francis' career in public affairs consulting included working for the largest public affairs firms in Washington, D.C. and their corporate clients worldwide. He is a native of Texas and resides with his husband and son in Homer, Alaska and Washington, D.C.
